This photo made me think about cats my mom’s friend used to have. Two beautiful Persian tabby cats who were all over you once they get to know you. I went for a visit one day and to my very unpleasant surprise the cats were not there. Later I found out their daughter in law was about to have a baby so they gave them away. I remember being so mad about it. How could they just give them away? Two cats who lived with them for years. But, I guess the cats in the cradle superstition is always present.

After this I did some research on the matter and, as I thought giving the cats away was unnecessary. As house cats they were vaccinated and clean there for no treat to a new born baby. Of course not all cats react the same to a major change like a baby. Some cats tend to hide in a quiet place where they feel safe, while others insist on doing the things the way they use to, but with a proper introduction cats and children go perfectly together. Just look at all the pictures of cats and babies.

Remember that silly old story about cats in the cradle and how they steal baby’s breath? There are so many myths about cats and babies, all of them untrue of course. The only reason a cat can be found close to the baby’s head is the warmth.

There’s so many pictures of cats with baby pulling it’s tail or ears, with cat doing absolutely nothing at all, for us to know how completely ridiculous these storien are.
