Tabby Cats In The Yard picture

Should I allow my cat to go out or not? Probably one of the most asked questions. If you decide to let it out every once in a while, make sure your cat is vaccinated just to be sure he/she is safe from diseases lurking around. But you should know that you can’t make an indoor cat from a stray cat or one that is used to the outside. I should know of all people.

Several years ago I brought a 4 months old country side kitten to the city. Of course with all the stray cats and dogs around she wasn’t allowed to go out, but that didn’t stop her at all. She used to jump from the balcony to a nearby tree. Needles to say I had to return her to my grandma because I didn’t want to take the chance of her getting hurt or killed.

So if you plan to keep your cat inside make sure she has access to a clean litter box, plenty of space to run around and some toys for amusement. Under no circumstances should you introduce your cat to the outdoors if you plan to keep it inside. Cats love the outdoors, they are curious and explorative creatures, and once you let your cat out, you may find it difficult to change her habit.

Prowling his own quiet backyard or asleep by the fire, he is still only a whisker away from the wilds. ~ Jean Burden

P.S. I know that she doesn’t look like a tabby, but she is. This is one of my kitty cats :) She’s just way to small in this picture.
